Help for farmer Vinay

Farmer Vinay from Bodam Block, Jharkhand Members of NEEV with Vinay and Dayamayee in Vinay’s Field

Dear Friends,

You would be glad to know that this year NEEV has extended its challenge of training 600 farmers across 16 villages in SRI (System of Rice Intensification) to increase productivity of rice. NEEV’s SRI program does not only have the potential to address the grave problem of addressing food security but in an indirect way it is also a movement to make farming a dignified and profitable endeavour to the alarming no. of youth who are leaving farming and flocking to the cities to live in degrading conditions.

Hearing about our SRI program two youth from Bodam block of Jharkhand approached us and decided to support our initiative by volunteering to become our resource persons for the SRI project in their block. Currently Vinay and Dayamayee are working to train about 200 farmers in SRI in their village.

Vinay, who has returned to his village after a brief and unsuccessful stint of working in the city has been passionate about farming. Last year he had invested all his meagre income to grow vegetables in his land. Unfortunately, the rains failed last year. This year Jharkhand has been blessed with adequate rainfall after two years of practical drought. Vinay is keen to do farming this year but he does not have enough money to buy bullocks to plough his fields. Without the bulls he does not stand a chance to farm his own land.

While NEEV has come forward to support Vinay to help him meet his family needs, we are eagerly looking for people who can help Vinay with an amount of Rs.20,000 to buy a pair of bullocks.

This is our chance to help a family sustainably. I sincerelr request all our friends and supporters of NEEV to come forward and help Vinay with this amount. A small amount can create an opportunity of a lifetime for Vinay.
